Timber in the City

The idea for this project was to use the jagged forms of the surrounding buildings to influence the form of the buildings. This design was done by pushing and pulling forms to create the shell. This site was located in the middle of a city so it was very important for this design to incorporate nature as much as possible. This led to the formation of several rooftop gardens located on the apartment complex. Not only does this improve the well being of the residents living in the apartments, it also allows for them to grow their own fruits and vegetables. This is important because these apartments are low-income.
