Custom Steltman Chair

 

For this design, the idea was to soften the forms and edges of the original chair, making it a comfortable and smooth. The Steltman chair is a very linear piece with flat surfaces, hard edges and sharp corners. To soften this strong appearance, upholstery was added to the seat, giving it a plush and rounded appearance - this also makes the chair comfortable to sit in. Along with this, all of the edges were sanded down to make them smooth. The chair was painted black to help soften the edges and make it appear more modern. The upholstery material chosen has organic, rounded forma with a pop of vibrant green to  give it some contrast.
